Treatment of Melasma

Melasma is a very common skin disorder characterized by variations in skin color. Dark patches, also known as hyperpigmented patches, typically show up on the face when an individual has melasma.

Melasma is more commonly found in women, but men can also be at risk. People with darker skin also have a higher chance of experiencing melasma. While the causes of melasma can be debated, it is believed to be linked to birth control pills, anti-seizure medications, and increased sun exposure.

While melasma is not a cause for worry, it can be bothersome. We can help with the treatment of melasma with chemical peels and microdermabrasion, both of which help fade the visual appearance of melasma.
